Mobile Patient Care Documentation

Many hospitals are beginning to enable mobile documentation using devices such as wireless laptops mounted on mobile carts.

Other wireless devices, however, such as Palm devices, can provide a better mobile documentation solution in some instances. Highly mobile care providers, such as respiratory therapists, may prefer to carry a Palm device in a pocket rather than transport a wireless laptop and cart around the hospital. Additionally, it may make better financial sense to provide Palm devices, rather than expensive laptops and mobile carts, to nursing aides documenting limited information, such as vital signs and I&O's.

Iatric Systems' PalmCare software provides flexibility in meeting clinical care providers' mobile documentation needs. Initially designed as a replacement for DG handheld devices, PalmCare allows clinicians to document NUR assessments and interventions on virtually any PalmOS device. Additionally, PalmCare users can now document medication administration. PalmCare is seamlessly integrated with the MEDITECH HCIS.

PalmCare is currently available in Magic version only.
