Patient Safety Management

Manage Multiple Joint Commission Requirements with One Tool

Joint Commission has numerous requirements which are vital to patient safety. Nurses must reassess a patient's level of pain after pain medication has been administered (PC.8.10) and recheck patient's restraints (PC.11). Physicians must be notified of critical results (2007 NPSG 2c) within the timeframe established by your approved internal policies. Historically, there has been no easy way to track these requirements and automatically alert caregivers when thresholds are exceeded.

Patient Safety Management (PSM) will help your staff comply more effectively with these patient safety requirements and, as always, is designed to integrate directly with MEDITECH.

PSM automatically notifies users with visual and/or audible alerts when certain thresholds are exceeded. Additionally, in the case of pain reassessment, PSM actually ties the NUR reassessment with the PHA medication that was administered. This provides proof that the correct medication and dose administered are associated with a reassessment, as required by Joint Commission.

Key Advantages Include:

  • Improves hospitals' compliance with Joint Commission patient safety requirements
  • Automatically notifies caregivers of critical patient safety tasks requiring their attention
  • Provides senior management with measurements to help take steps to improve compliance
  • Directly integrates with MEDITECH without the need for costly interfaces
  • Includes new PSM worklists with standard annual maintenance
