Course Description
This installment of I-Online Learning will be an in-depth instruction on B/AR Proration Rules. This course is designed for anyone who is interested in learning about B/AR Proration Rules and anyone who needs to write and/or maintain the rules. We will cover the basics of B/AR Proration features and progress to more advanced concepts using an "online demo" approach combined with post-session exercises.
Specific topics to be covered in this course include but are not limited to: How the rules affect the B/AR module, what dictionaries are involved, how to get started developing the rules, how to use the Input and Output variables provided by MEDITECH, how to read and write code, how to write simple rules, how to write complex rules, and how to “Go-Live” with the rules.

Course Layout
- The course will be held over a period of 3 class sessions.
- Each session will last for approximately 2 hours for a total of 6 class hours.
- The instructor will demonstrate the function and design of Proration Rules using the MEDITECH Workstation while students follow along via the Webex Internet meeting. The Webex system allows students to observe as the instructor navigates the MEDITECH screen.
- Students and Instructor will also be connected via phone conference.
- At the end of each session, optional exercises will be given for completion prior to the next class meeting. The exercises will be reviewed at the start of each class meeting.
- The instructor will provide full email support for the duration of the course.
- Each site may have multiple participants present for the course session with one person designated as the point person. The point person will coordinate site participation in the course, ask questions during the course and email questions pertaining to the home assignments to the instructor.
Requirements
- Participants must have a reliable Internet connection and a web browser in order to view the demonstration. It is helpful to have a highspeed connection such as T1, DSL, Cable, but not necessary.
- Phone or speakerphone if the training will be held for multiple participants in a training room.
- Each site may have one pc connected to the Webex meeting session. Additional connections may be purchased for an additional charge.

About the Instructor
Cathy Young has been working with the MEDITECH product since 1989 and spent 8 years working as a consultant for MEDITECH facilities. She has been writing B/AR Proration Rules since 1993 and has developed hundreds of rules ranging from simple to very complex. She has taught Proration Classes on-site at many facilities across the country and has taught the course at both regional and international MUSE events over the past several years. Cathy holds a bachelor’s degree in MIS and is currently working on a MBA degree.
