MUSE International Conference 1997 - Sessions and Handouts
This page contains most of the information that was handed out in our two education sessions at the 1997 MUSE conference in Orlando, Florida. The NPR session was repeated at many regional conferences. To download, please click on any of the links below.
Customer Defined Screens
Introduction to Advanced CDS Methods - Included here is a self-extracting zip file containing several CDS printouts and my session slides. All the information is in one Word (.doc) file. The examples show how to create default answers (pre 4.6), how to create more sophisticated data checking routines and how to call a fragment in a CDS attribute to retrieve data from another module.
User Dictionary to Payroll Link - This was the handout provided by Charlie Baxter, of Iatric Systems (formerly of Memorial Hospital). Charlie shows a way to create a CDS screen in the user dictionary to link to user to their record in the payroll module. This is a self-extracting zip file containing Charlie's handout in Wordperfect (.wpd) format.
Advanced NPR Report Techniques
All the items listed below were NPR reports that you could download and install in your system using our old NPR2PC utility. Because this utility is no longer used, if you would like the details of one of these reports, please click on the report and you will be able to send an e-mail to Joel Berman requesting a copy of the report.
- Default LI prompts - Example of how to create default answers in an LI prompt. Example is from ADM.PAT DPM
- 3 Across Laser Labels using /MV arrays - Another way to produce 3 across laser labels. This is a different technique then presented in prior years. Example is from the PP module.
- Send NPR output via FTP - When this sample report is run, it creates the data file and then sends the file via FTP to another system using the $FTP.GHT utility. If you schedule the report you have a way of creating an automatic interface to another system. Documentation for FTP.GHT is included in the report documentation section. Requires the 5.6 OS. Example is from GL.AMOUNT DPM.
- Preloading the Sort file - Shows a powerful technique for adding additional records to the sort file. In this example we need to print employees primary job code along with secondary job codes. Technique also is very useful for creating those dreaded readmission reports.
- Printer Control - This report illustrates the use of an undocumented Meditech feature called Dimension Override. In this example, we use it to produce a report in landscape at 10 CPI. Documentation for this feature is included in the report documentation section. There also was a small mistake in the original handout that is corrected here. The mistake was in the macro.
