Endowment Program

Our Endowment Program has been established to help a hospital in need comply with regulations regarding the security of patient records. The Endowment will reduce the risk of internal security breaches and ultimately, ensure patients' privacy.

Many hospitals lack the resources required to perform comprehensive audits of access to patient records. The audit process is often a manual, cumbersome and time-consuming task, particularly at hospitals where patient data resides across a number of diverse systems. As a result, countless patient data security violations are left unidentified and therefore unaddressed.

The download links below will help your hospital complete the application process. Deadline for submission is March 2, 2009.

What will be Awarded

The winner of the Endowment Award will receive a three-year license to utilize Security Audit Manager for up to 10 concurrent users. Iatric Systems will be funding this program from concept to completion, with the following outline of responsibilities.

Iatric Systems' responsibility:

  • 3-year license
  • Implementation training
  • 3 years of 24/7/365 support
  • Server (see SAM Server Specifications)
  • SQL processor licensing fee (if necessary)
  • Iatric Systems will cover the registration fee and travel expenses for an executive level hospital employee to attend exhibits and workshops as well as accept the Endowment award in Iatric Systems' booth #7539 at HIMSS '09 in Chicago.

Hospital's responsibility:

  • Provide access to user audit trails to Iatric Systems staff for each of the hospital's HIS software vendor systems
  • Identify primary hospital employee who will be responsible for management of the project
  • Agree to use of hospital's name in related press release(s) and other publicity the Endowment Program may generate
  • Send executive level hospital representative to HIMSS to accept award

Award Criteria

The award will be granted to a licensed not-for-profit, acute-care hospital (single facility), 400 beds or less. The main criteria upon which the award will be based include:

1. Financial Criteria - A higher level of consideration will be given to healthcare facilities in economically depressed areas, and/or those experiencing demonstrated financial pressures.

2. Diversity of HIS Applications - It is inherently more difficult to monitor access to patient records across a diverse set of software applications. Therefore, the broader the diversity of a healthcare facility's HIS software applications, the higher the level of consideration for the award will be given.

3. Demonstrated Need for Solution - There are a number of other factors that affect an organization's ability to monitor access to patient records. What are the sizes of the organization's Information Technology and/or Compliance/Security departments? How much time is the organization currently devoting to monitoring access to patient records, and how many patient records is it able to audit? Has the organization already been cited for security violations? Demonstrated need for our solution will play a role in the final decision.

Selection of the Recipient

The top five applicants will be submitted to a panel of independent judges who will determine the final winner. Panelists represent a cross section of the healthcare industry, including consultants, vendors, healthcare publications and hospitals currently utilizing Security Audit Manager (and therefore not qualified to apply for this Endowment).
